Everything you need to know about using Sanda Data Saver on Android and Windows.

📱 Android App — Getting Started

After installing Sanda Data Saver on your Android phone, follow these steps to get set up:

1

Open the App

Find Sanda Data Saver in your app drawer and tap to open it.

2

Grant Usage Permission

The app will ask for Usage Access permission. Tap OK, find Sanda Data Saver in the list and enable it. This lets the app show your data usage stats.

3

Choose Apps to Block

Tap Manage Blocked Apps and check the apps you want to block when data saving is ON.

4

Turn On Data Saver

Tap the big toggle switch. On first use, Android will ask for VPN permission. Tap OK to allow it. This is the local firewall that blocks the apps.

💡 Tip: The VPN permission dialog only appears once. After you approve it, the app will activate instantly every time you toggle it ON.

🔛 Using the Main Toggle

The large toggle switch on the home screen is the heart of the app.

When Toggle is OFF:

  • All apps have normal internet access

  • All apps in your blocked list lose internet access
  • All other apps still work normally
  • A VPN key icon appears in your status bar
  • Screen shows DATA SAVER: ON in green

⚠️ Note: When Data Saver is ON you will see a VPN key icon in your phone status bar. This is normal and expected. It is your local firewall working. No data is sent to any external server.

❓ Frequently Asked Questions

Is my data being monitored or sent anywhere?

Absolutely not. Sanda Data Saver has no servers and collects zero data. Everything happens only on your device. See our Privacy Policy for full details.

Why does Android show a VPN key icon in the status bar?

This is normal. The app uses a local VPN to block apps. This VPN runs entirely on your device and does NOT send your internet traffic anywhere. It is just a local firewall.

A blocked app is still accessing the internet. Why?

Make sure Data Saver is toggled ON (green). Also check that the app is checked in your Manage Blocked Apps list and that you tapped Save.

The PC app is not blocking properly. What do I do?

Make sure you ran the app as Administrator. Without admin rights it cannot manage the firewall. Right-click the EXE and select Run as Administrator.

How do I uninstall the Android app?

First toggle Data Saver OFF to restore everything. Then go to phone Settings → Apps → Sanda Data Saver → Uninstall.

How do I uninstall the Windows app?

Right-click tray icon → Exit first. Then go to Windows Settings → Apps → Sanda Data Saver → Uninstall. The uninstaller will restore all settings automatically.

My Android app crashes when I open Manage Blocked Apps.

Make sure you granted the QUERY_ALL_PACKAGES permission. Go to Settings → Apps → Sanda Data Saver → Permissions and ensure all permissions are granted.

Will the app work on older Android phones?

Yes. The app supports Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) and above which covers the vast majority of Android devices in use today.
