KNOW THYSELF 4 – Looking Through the Mirror?
In the 1937 movie of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, the wicked witch will daily ask the magic mirror. “Mirror, Mirror on the wall, tell me who is the fairest of them all” expecting a different answer each time. But the mirror will always answer “Over the seven jewelled hills, beyond the seventh fall, in the cottage of the Seven Dwarfs, dwells Snow White, fairest one of all.” We read the story in kiddies books as young lads and one day it was in a movie format. Every time she summons the slave in the mirror and asks her time and again. The answer remains the same. But I love a statement the mirror made on one occasion. “Famed is thy beauty, Majesty. But hold, a lovely maid I see. Rags cannot hide her gentle grace. Alas, she is more fair than thee.” Similarly, the Scripture clearly states that we are fair and without spot. Thou art all fair, my love; there is no spot in thee. Song of Solomon 4:7 (KJV) Jesus paid the ultimate price and died on the cross to ensure we measure up to be the fairest without spot or wrinkles. That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish. Ephesians 5:27 (KJV) Beloved to see who you truly are, look into the mirror – the mirror of God’s word. When we look into the mirror presented to us by Christ, we will see our true selves. Holy, with no spot or wrinkles. But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord. 2 Corinthians 3:18 (KJV) Quit measuring yourself from the eyes of your frailty and rags. Rags cannot hide your gentle grace. Stop defining yourself based on what you own or lack. Your life is worth much more than things. You are the fairest of God’s creation. He lives in you. Speaking to the people, he went on, “Take care! Protect yourself against the least bit of greed. Life is not defined by what you have, even when you have a lot.” Luke 12:15 (Msg) ” If God gives such attention to the appearance of wildflowers–most of which are never even seen–don’t you think he’ll attend to you, take pride in you, do his best for you? Matthew 6:30 (Msg) You are of great value in His sight. Look through the word and discover. You are more valuable than the riches of pearls, onyx and diamonds. Smile and rejoice. God loves you. Yes, you!
