May my spoken words and unspoken thoughts be pleasing even to you, O Lord my Rock and my Redeemer. Psalm 19:14 (Living) How I love this Living Bible translation of Psalms 19:14. Indeed we are always speaking – spoken words and unspoken thoughts and they must all align in pleasing God and bringing Him glory. Like we learnt a couple of days ago, we cannot begin to comprehend in our finite mind what thoughts the infinite mind of God is conceiving. His ways are too far away from ours but we are privileged by His Spirit to catch a glimpse of what pleases Him. Can you imagine God was pleased by the torture and death of His one begotten son (Jesus) just as much as he rejoices over the home coming of saints in light to glory. We weep when brethren die and we rejoice when the wicked die. But God sees it differently. He does not like it when the wicked die and he rejoices when saints do. Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints. Psalms 116:15 (KJV) Say unto them, As I live, saith the Lord GOD , I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked; but that the wicked turn from his way and live: turn ye, turn ye from your evil ways; for why will ye die, O house of Israel? Ezekiel 33:11 (KJV) So praying for the death of wicked men while desiring perpetuity (long life) for the righteous are at variance to what pleases God. 😲😱 Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in his hand. Isaiah 53:10 (KJV) It pleased the Lord to bruise Him. Yes, indeed, it’s not just rossy rossy that delights God. Sometimes our suffering which may make no sense to us pleases God. Jesus had to go through the cross. Sometimes, we need to stop whining and complaining about our “negative” situations and just seek to please God while going through it. Jesus knew this and sought for the Father’s will only. Remember in the garden of Gethsemane when Jesus said, not my will but thine! For even Christ pleased not himself; but, as it is written, The reproaches of them that reproached thee fell on me. Romans 15:3 (KJV) Jesus accepted and even welcomed the reproaches of men as long as He knew they were designed for God’s glory. Some time ago when I was attacked and beaten by certain hoodlums while on a prayer walk with some amazing brethren, this was what gave me strength and emboldened me to refuse retaliation and litigation against those my offenders. It is ok to suffer shame, reproach and distress if it will procure glory for the Lord and give Him pleasure. Some suffering can be redemptive and we must identify them and go through them for God’s glory. Imagine if Jesus had sang that song “me I no go suffer, I no go beg for bread” and rejected the shame and humiliation of the cross. Our salvation would been on jeopardy. Prayer: Lord have mercy on me! Receive glory through my joys and pains; through my shames and gains. That in everything according to Colossians 1:18, You may have the preeminence. Amen.

Another thing that greatly pleases the Lord and gives Him glory is the fruit of our lips. I am not just talking about songs and hymns. They are beautiful to bless the Lord and edify the saints but I am talking about talking. What we say to God in prayers, to people in our world or to ourselves in meditation – all matter to God. Like it is often said, “your word is your bond”. Yes your word is your bond, it’s your honour and it’s your wand (so to speak). With your words you can bless or destroy. Your words are your seeds just as God’s word is His seed. Jesus warned that we will give account of our words – every idle word! That’s serious. So with our right words we please God or with the wrong ones we displease Him. But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment. Matthew 12:36 (KJV) Why is this so? He further explained that our words justify us or condemns us. For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned. Matthew 12:37 (KJV) Hello friend, what are you saying? One of my strong mantras is, “to only say in life or post on social media what glorifies God and edifies the saints “. How I wish we all could uphold this. What a beautiful world we will create. Your words can give God pleasure and glorify Him. Solomon’s response to God’s blank cheque opportunity so pleased God that God announced it and added many other things beside. As a young man, he could have asked for gold, silver, pretty girls or victory in battles but he only desired an understanding heart to lead properly. And the speech pleased the Lord, that Solomon had asked this thing. 1 Kings 3:10 (KJV) In Luke’s gospel Chapter 18, Jesus spoke of two folks who had come to pray, one went home justified and not the other because of their words which revealed their humility and pride respectively. To glorify God unto His pleasing we must learn to be intentional and careful about the words that proceed out of our mouths. Before you say it, weigh it. While it’s still unspoken in the thought realm, review it. Don’t say it was a mistake, only babies do that. Suffer not thy mouth to cause thy flesh to sin; neither say thou before the angel, that it was an error: wherefore should God be angry at thy voice, and destroy the work of thine hands ? Ecclesiastes 5:6 (KJV) Read the above verse again, words can so displease God that He could angrily destroy the works of your hands. Beware of your words! Paul shared in 1 Corinthians 13 that when he was a child, he spoke and acted before he thought about things. Don’t do that!. First weigh it in thoughts than say it with grace. When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things . 1 Corinthians 13:11 (KJV) My other two mottos for life are WWJD- What Will Jesus Do and WWJS – What Will Jesus Say. May my spoken words and unspoken thoughts be pleasing even to you, O Lord my Rock and my Redeemer. Psalm 19:14 (Living) Amen.

Guess what? It pleases God to bless you. In order words, one of the things that delights Him is when you prosper. He doesn’t like it when His children suffer, struggle or stress. I can boldly say that God is more willing to heal, bless and prosper you than all your prayers can express. Why does He desire this? Because it is what gives Him glory. Even an evil witch desires good for her children and herself how much more the righteous and loving Father. Don’t you ever believe the lie of the devil. Poverty, sickness and failure does NOT show piety and purity. There is nothing holy about holes in your pockets. God wants you blessed. Ask Balaam who tried to curse Israel. And when Balaam saw that it pleased the LORD to bless Israel, he went not, as at other times, to seek for enchantments, but he set his face toward the wilderness. Numbers 24:1 (KJV) Listen beloved, it pleases the Lord to bless you. Not just spiritually but physically, mentally, financially and health-wise too. Let them shout for joy, and be glad, that favour my righteous cause: yea, let them say continually, Let the LORD be magnified, which hath pleasure in the prosperity of his servant . Psalms 35:27 (KJV) God delights in our prosperity. No wonder John rightly desired that we prosper and be in health even as we prosper in our minds. Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth . 3 John 1:2 (KJV) Our assignment to see that we prosper and enjoy God’s blessings as a living reality is that we simply obey and serve Him. If they obey and serve him, they shall spend their days in prosperity, and their years in pleasures. Job 36:11 (KJV) You are blessed and highly favored in Jesus name. Remember always that God is NOT against you. On the contrary, He is for you and is working all things for your good. Amen

Sometimes God doesn’t make sense. However, His “foolishness” (if ever there is such a thing like that) is wiser than the wisdom of the wisest of men. This so-called “foolish” plan of God is far wiser than the wisest plan of the wisest man, and God in his weakness–Christ dying on the cross-is far stronger than any man. 1 Corinthians 1:25 (Living) That’s the reason to genuinely please and bring about His glory in our lives is beyond head knowledge and beyond what we perceive as being right. We can only please God by following His instructions and not necessarily what is convenient or even morally correct. For His thoughts and ways are far higher than ours. God said, For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways and My thoughts than your thoughts. Isaiah 55:9 (KJV) Saul (1 Samuel 15) displeased God by sparing King Agag’s life. Onan (Genesis 38) displeased God by denying his sibling an offspring via his widow which appeared morally incorrect. Uzzah (2 Samuel 6) displeased God by using his hand to steady God’s ark. Ananias and his wife Sapphira (Acts 5) died for giving and lying about the percentage they gave because that displeased God too. For a lot of us these make no sense at all but herein is wisdom: God is no man, He owes no one any explanation. He is God all by Himself. To please this terrible, yet loving, righteous yet caring, holy yet merciful and awesome God who is a consuming fire we must know His will and Do it. Period! Even the preaching of the Gospel to save all who believe which appears as foolishness pleases this mighty God. For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe. 1 Corinthians 1:21 (KJV) Even when you don’t understand, STAND in obedience. This pleases God and glorifies Him.

What is it that pleases God? What gladdens His heart? A clear insight into this and living in that consciousness will engender God’s matchless grace and blessings in our lives. Apostle Paul made it his life goal to please God. He wanted to daily capture the reason for which God saved and delivered him. Furthermore then we beseech you, brethren, and exhort you by the Lord Jesus, that as ye have received of us how ye ought to walk and to please God, so ye would abound more and more. 1 Thessalonians 4:1 (KJV) The key to abundance is to wholeheartedly seek God’s pleasure. Sometimes we need to say it again and again till it registers in our soul – God made us for Himself. How do we effectively please Him? By walking in the Spirit and no longer in the flesh. The flesh and her lusts are at variance with God’s Spirit. Romans 8:8 categorically states that they that are in the flesh cannot please God. So then they that are in the flesh CANNOT please God. Romans 8:8 (KJV) It’s a scripture with a finality. They that are in the flesh can not please the almighty God. To please God, we must keep away from fulfilling all our feelings and fleshy lusts. We must quit seeking prominence and fame. We must give no occasion to the devil or his ideas in our hearts and lives. The Amplified Version amplifies it thus: So then those who are living the life of the flesh [catering to the appetites and impulses of their carnal nature] cannot please or satisfy God, or be acceptable to Him. Romans 8:8 (KJV). To please, satisfy or be accepted by God, we MUST overcome our feelings and put our flesh under control like Paul said he did often. This is how we ensure to live solely for God’s glory. But [like a boxer] I buffet my body [handle it roughly, discipline it by hardships] and subdue it, for fear that after proclaiming to others the Gospel and things pertaining to it, I myself should become unfit [not stand the test, be unapproved and rejected as a counterfeit]. 1 Corinthians 9:27 (Amp). Let’s avoid becoming counterfeits by intentionally pursuit of the gifts of the Spirit and disciplining the flesh and its lusts. Shalom!

When a man’s ways please the LORD, he maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him. Proverbs 16:7 (Amp) The Message Version brings it home by adding, When GOD approves of your life, even your enemies will end up shaking your hand. Proverbs 16:7 (Msg) God didn’t design us to defend ourselves or focus on enemies but rather to trust Him enough to take care of us and to busy ourselves with pleasing God. What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us? Romans 8:31 The Bible tells us of two extraordinary people who pleased God with their lives and how God blessed them. Enoch was approved of God for pleasing God and he escaped death. He disappointed an appointment which all men have. He didn’t die. Reason? He had the testimony that he pleased God. By an act of faith, Enoch skipped death completely. “They looked all over and couldn’t find him because God had taken him. ” We know on the basis of reliable testimony that before he was taken “he pleased God. “ It is an act of faith that pleases God and wins our battles even the battle with death. Enoch pleased God. Jesus likewise so pleased God that God was so impressed He announced it. While he yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him. Matthew 17:5 (KJV) The Father approved of Jesus ever before he preached his first sermon, heal the sick or raised any dead. This was before He laid down his life on the cross for our redemption. He didn’t please God with His acts alone, He most assuredly pleased God with His life and lifestyle. We must on like manner seek to please God beyond what we do and step into pleasing Him in who we are. Be true, be just, be pure, be holy, be loving, be kind and be worshipping. Don’t just do – BE. And let God be pleased, and His glory will shine forth.

the people I made especially for myself, a people custom-made to praise me . Isaiah 43:2 The designer of every excellent machine would naturally attach a users manual with it to enhance its productivity, effectiveness and maintenance. In the same way God made us for Himself and provided a guide for our lives in the form of a combination of books – the Bible. Effective understanding of manual of life makes meaning of living. From God’s word we learn that our essence for living is to pursue, project and protect God’s glory. Our lives when lived according to Gods desire in righteousness and true holiness are things that give God glory. Thy people also shall be all righteous: they shall inherit the land for ever, the branch of my planting, the work of my hands, that I may be glorified. Isaiah 60:21 (KJV) In the same way, God’s anger is unleashed on all who will NOT live to glorify Him. For God’s [holy] wrath and indignation are revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who in their wickedness repress and hinder the truth and make it inoperative.Because when they knew and recognized Him as God, they did not honor and glorify Him as God or give Him thanks. But instead they became futile and godless in their thinking [with vain imaginings, foolish reasoning, and stupid speculations] and their senseless minds were darkened. And by them the glory and majesty and excellence of the immortal God were exchanged for and represented by images, resembling mortal man and birds and beasts and reptiles.Romans 1:18, 21, 23 (Amp.) Never exchange His glory for things or pleasures but rather, let’s daily Pursue, Project and Protect God’s Glory . In this is our heavenly Father exalted for this is what the manual states.

All we are, all we have and in all we do, God’s glory is to be our focus, desire and pursuit. Even in sickness and negative things God’s glory is still the end point. When Jesus received the message, He said, This sickness is not to end in death; but [on the contrary] it is to honor God and to promote His glory, that the Son of God may be glorified through (by) it. John 11:4 (Amp) In eating, drinking, fasting or leisure we must commit to ensuring God’s glory is pursued. Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.1 Corinthians 10:31 (KJV) Jesus desired that the Father’s name be glorified and God the Father responded to Jesus prayer, “I have glorified it and I yet glorify it”. This shows that it is the desire of God that His name be glorified. Father, glorify thy name. Then came there a voice from heaven, saying, I have both glorified it, and will glorify it again John 12:28 (KJV) Our primary business as God’s servants in our worship and service is to glorify the Father and not ourselves. And said unto me, Thou art my servant, O Israel, in whom I will be glorified. Isaiah 49:3 (KJV) In prayer, we receive answers so God may be glorified: And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. John 14:13 When we bear fruit spiritually, it is for the glory of God. Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples. John 15:8 In ministering, preaching or teaching it is all for His glory. If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles of God; if any man minister, let him do it as of the ability which God giveth: that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be praise and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.1 Peter 4:11 God bless you beloved as you pilot your life in this direction – purely for God’s glory. God is with you. Emmanuel!

When you really come into the ambience of God’s glory you will naturally fall prostrate in worship. Examples abound in scriptures of people who saw His glory. Isaiah confessed when he encountered God’s glory that he was inadequate to stand in that awe. In the year that king Uzziah died I saw also the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and his train filled the temple. And one cried unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, is the LORD of hosts: the whole earth is full of his glory. Then said I, Woe is me! for I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for mine eyes have seen the King, the LORD of hosts. Isaiah 6:1, 3, 5 (KJV) Abraham (Genesis 17:3) , Moses and Aaron (Numbers 20:6) , Ezekiel (Ezekiel 3:23), Balaam (Numbers 22:31), Manoah (Judges 13:20), The Angels in Heaven (Revelations 7:11) and the Twenty four Elders (Revelation 11:16) . David, Samson and Gideon too. All these fell face down in the awe of God’s glory. Falling face down is not just a Yoruba culture that depicts honour to fathers, mothers and elders, it is a biblical concept of deep worship. We must NOT get to the point where we have been so elevated that we can not fall prostrate in the presence of the Almighty God. To kneel, lay prostrate or even roll over on the floor with all our heavy regalia is not “old school”. It is a hearts genuine response to the awesome glory of God. Do not get me wrong. To stand lifting holy hands in worship is also great but how do you physically posture yourself as a servant before your master. For we are no longer servants to sin but we are now servants of the heavenly Father and “slaves” to righteousness. Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness? Romans 6:16 (KJV) Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness . Romans 6:18 (KJV) But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God , ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life. Romans 6:22 (KJV) As free, and not using your liberty for a cloke of maliciousness, but as the servants of God. 1 Peter 2:16 (KJV) The greatest status to ever obtain in life is to be called “a servant of God” by God Himself whether you are a Bishop, Apostle or a Church member. Meditate and sing along this song by Dr. Panam Percy Paul: Come let us worship and bow downLet us kneel before the Lord our makerGlorious Splendour and MajestyThou oh Lord are the King of all Creation. For He is our God and we are the sheep of His pastureThou oh Lord are the King of all Creation. Let’s lay prostrate before Him in awe of His glory in worship, not just physically but in heart, soul and mind and do all we can to serve this great God. I love and celebrate you.

Worship is the core purpose of our existence. The words worship and service are used interchangeably in the scriptures and it is the desire of our Heavenly Father. John 4:23 (KJV). But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. John 4:24 (KJV) God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. Not only does God desire and demand our worship, He also spells out how the worship must be done. We must worship God in Spirit and in Truth. This implies that we must not allow the flesh interrupt our worship neither should we worship deceitfully. Take a moment and worship God for who He is and all He does. Great is our God and He must be praised greatly. Glory!
